Graduate Students regarding Commencement/Graduation

  1. Should I attend the All-University Commencement Ceremony or should I attend my college recognition ceremony?

    All graduate students are recognized and walk across the stage at the All-University Commencement ceremony.

    The only two colleges which allow graduate students to participate at their college recognition ceremonies are: The Sam M. Walton College of Business and the College of Engineering. Graduate students from the Sam M. Walton College of Business and the College of Engineering can participate in one or both ceremonies but must indicate so on the commencement attendance card.

  2. I filled out the application to graduate card. Is that all I have to do to walk at commencement?

    No. You must also complete and submit the commencement attendance card which was included in the commencement packet that you received from the Registrar’s Office. Without this card, we have no record of your plans to attend the ceremony.

  3. I will complete all the requirements to graduate for my degree in the coming summer or the fall semester. Can I still participate in the All-University Commencement ceremony?

    Yes. To do so, you must submit the “Request to Participate” form which is available on our website.

  4. Since I won't be graduating until the coming summer or fall but I am going to walk in the commencement ceremony, will my name appear in the commencement program?

    Yes. There is a special section in the commencement program that lists all future graduates who are participating in the ceremony and their expected graduation dates.

  5. I do not want to participate in commencement. Do I still have to apply to graduate?

    Yes.
