Stephen Langsner called the meeting to order at 2:33 P.M.
- The minutes for the March 27, 2009 meeting were approved.
- Course Change Proposals:
- Undergraduate course change proposals (Table A) were approved without opposition and forwarded for the May 2009 Faculty Senate meeting.
- Graduate and Dual course change proposals (Tables B & C) were approved without opposition and forwarded for the May 2009 Graduate Council meeting.
- Old Business:
Proposed graduate program changes for the Graduate School - Department of Health Science Kinesiology, Recreation and Dance - ATTRMA – Masters of Athletic Training (Table 2, Attachment 2A and Attachment 2B), and KINSMS – MS, Kinesiology - Athletic Training Concentration (Table 2, Attachment 2C and Attachment 2D) were presented by Dean Gorman. The proposals had been tabled during the March UCPC meeting. The program changes requested to add a new degree in Athletic Training and delete the Athletic concentration under the MS, Kinesiology degree. Both proposals were approved without opposition and will be forwarded for consideration at the May Graduate Council meeting.
- New Business:
- Proposed undergraduate program change for the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences – All Majors – Fulbright Core (Table One, Attachment 1A) was presented by Chuck Adams. The program change requested to remove ARTS 1003 from the Fulbright Core. The proposal was approved without opposition and will be forwarded for the May 2009 Faculty Senate meeting.
- Proposed undergraduate program change for the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences – All Majors – University Core (Table One, Attachment 1B) was presented by Chuck Adams. The program change requested to remove ARTS 1003 from the University Core. The proposal was approved without opposition and will be forwarded for the May 2009 Faculty Senate meeting.
- Proposed undergraduate program change for the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences – Department of Economics – ECNCBA – BA, Economics (Table One, Attachment 1C) was presented by Chuck Adams. The program change requested to remove the area of Russian Studies as a program studies area. The proposal was approved without opposition and will be forwarded for the May 2009 Faculty Senate meeting.
- Proposed undergraduate program change for the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences – Department of History – HISTBA – BA, History (Table One, Attachment 1D) was presented by Chuck Adams. The program change requested to add several courses to the elective listings and add Middle East Courses to the Group 2 course listings. The proposal was approved without opposition and will be forwarded for the May 2009 Faculty Senate meeting.
- Proposed undergraduate program change for the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences – International Relations – IRELBA – BA, International Relations (Table One, Attachment 1E) was presented by Chuck Adams. The program change requested to remove the area of Russian Studies as a program studies area. The proposal was approved without opposition and will be forwarded for the May 2009 Faculty Senate meeting.
- Proposed undergraduate program change for the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences – Lemke Department of Journalism – JOURBA – BA, Journalism (Table One, Attachment 1F) was presented by Chuck Adams. The program change requested to increase the overall GPA requirement to enter the Advertising/Public Relations sequence of the Journalism major from a 2.25 to a 2.50. The proposal was approved without opposition and will be forwarded for the May 2009 Faculty Senate meeting.
- Proposed undergraduate program change for the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences – Department of Music – all BA and BM Music Majors (Table One, Attachment 1G) was presented by Chuck Adams. The program change requested to change the course listing that Music Majors utilize to satisfy the Fulbright College Arts and Sciences writing requirement. The proposal was approved without opposition and will be forwarded for the May 2009 Faculty Senate meeting.
- Proposed undergraduate program change for the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences – Department of Music – MUSC-M – Minor in Music (Table One, Attachment 1H) was presented by Chuck Adams. The program change requested to add course areas of MUSY and MUSC to course selection listing for the minor. The proposal was approved without opposition and will be forwarded for the May 2009 Faculty Senate meeting.
- Proposed undergraduate program change for the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences – Russian Studies Combined Major Program (Table One, Attachment 1I and Attachment 1J) was presented by Chuck Adams. The program change requested to delete the Russian Studies combined major program. The proposal was approved without opposition and will be forwarded for the May 2009 Faculty Senate meeting.
- Proposed graduate program change for the Department of Rehabilitation, Human Resources and Communication Disorders – MAT, Vocational Education (Table Two, Attachment 2E and Attachment 2F) was presented by Steve Langsner. The program change requested to delete the MAT in Vocational Education degree. The proposal was approved and will be forwarded for the May 2009 Graduate Council meeting.
- Proposed graduate program change for the Department of Rehabilitation, Human Resources and Communication Disorders – HIEDES, EDS, Higher Education (Table Two, Attachment 2G and Attachment 2H) was presented by Steve Langsner. The program change requested to delete the EDS in Higher Education degree. The proposal was approved and will be forwarded for the May 2009 Graduate Council meeting.
- Proposed graduate program change for the Department of Physics – APHYMS, MS, Applied Physics (Table Two, Attachment 2I and Attachment 2J) was presented by Chuck Adams. The program change requested to delete the MS in Applied Physics degree. The proposal was approved and will be forwarded for the May 2009 Graduate Council meeting.
- Other Business:
Terry Martin was elected chair for the 2009-2010 academic year. The new chair’s tenure will begin July 1, 2009.
