Terry Martin called the meeting to order at 2:30P.M.

  1. The minutes for the April 24, 2009 meeting were approved.
  2. Course Change Proposals:
    1. Undergraduate course change proposals (Table A) were approved without opposition and forwarded for the September 2009 Faculty Senate meeting.
    2. Graduate and Dual course change proposals (Tables B & C) were approved without opposition and forwarded for the next Graduate Council meeting.
  3. Old Business: None
  4. New Business:
    1. Proposed undergraduate program change for the College of Education and Health Professions – Department of Health Science, Kinesiology, Recreation and Dance – RECRBS – BSE, Recreation (Table One, Attachment 1A and Attachment 1B) was presented by Merry Moiseichik. The program change requested to change the name of the degree from “BSE, Recreation” to “BSE, Recreation and Sport Management”, and change the alpha code from RECR to RESM. The proposal was approved without opposition and will be forwarded for the September 2009 Faculty Senate meeting.
    2. Proposed undergraduate program change for the College of Education and Health Professions – Department of Health Science, Kinesiology, Recreation and Dance – RECR-M – Minor in Recreation (Table One, Attachment 1C and Attachment 1D) was presented by Merry Moiseichik. The program change requested to change the name of the minor from “Minor in Recreation” to “Minor in Recreation and Sport Management”, and change the alpha code from RECR to RESM. The proposal was approved without opposition and will be forwarded for the September 2009 Faculty Senate meeting.
    3. Proposed graduate program change for the – Department of Health Science, Kinesiology, Recreation and Dance – RECRME – MED, Recreation (Table Two, Attachment 2A and Attachment 2B) was presented by Merry Moiseichik. The program change requested to change the name of the degree from “MED, Recreation” to “MED, Recreation and Sport Management”, and change the alpha code from RECR to RESM. The proposal was approved without opposition and will be forwarded for the next Graduate Council meeting.
    4. Proposed graduate program change for the – Department of Health Science, Kinesiology, Recreation and Dance – RECRED – EDD, Recreation (Table Two, Attachment 2C and Attachment 2D) was presented by Merry Moiseichik. The program change requested to change the name of the degree from “EDD, Recreation” to “EDD, Recreation and Sport Management”, and change the alpha code from RECR to RESM.  The proposal was approved without opposition and will be forwarded for the next Graduate Council meeting.
    5. Proposed graduate program change for the Department of Curriculum and Instruction – SPEDMA - MAT, Special Education (Table Two, Attachment 2E and Attachment 2F) was presented by Betsy Orr. The program change requested to delete the MAT in Special Education degree. The proposal was approved and will be forwarded for the next Graduate Council meeting.
    6. Proposed graduate program change for the Department of Rehabilitation, Human Resources and Communication Disorders – CNEDES - EDS, Counselor Education (Table Two, Attachment 2G and Attachment 2H) was presented by Betsy Orr. The program change requested to delete the EDS in Counselor Education degree. The proposal was approved and will be forwarded for the next Graduate Council meeting.
