Walton College Team and Faculty Win John A. White Award for Faculty-Student Collaboration

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Four students and a faculty mentor in the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas have won the 2009 John A. White Award for Faculty-Student Collaboration. The partnership between the Tears of Life team and faculty member Carol Reeves won or placed in five business plan competitions across the country, earning more than $85,000.

The team includes three students pursuing a managerial M.B.A. — Jared Greer, Bessie Williams and Chris Elizer — and an honors undergraduate student, Jordan Greer. Reeves is an associate professor of management and holder of the Cecil and Gwendolyn Cupp Applied Professorship in Entrepreneurship.

Chancellor Gearhart to give Presentation on Research at the University of Arkansas

Chancellor G. David Gearhart will give a presentation at 2 p.m. Monday, June 29, in CHEM 132, on research programs at the university and future goals for the university. The presentation is hosted by the University of Arkansas Chapter of Sigma Xi. Interested university faculty and staff are welcome. Refreshments will be available following the presentation in CHEM 105.


Ph.D. Candidate Wins State Awards for Column Writing

Two University of Arkansas students – Barbara Warner, a doctoral candidate in the public policy Program, and Kimber Wenzelburger, a senior in the Walter J. Lemke department of journalism – were honored by the Arkansas Press Women Association on Saturday, June 6.

University of Arkansas Students Will See No Tuition Increase for 2009-10 Academic Year

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The University of Arkansas System Board of Trustees has approved a tuition request from University of Arkansas Chancellor G. David Gearhart that will leave tuition unchanged for the next academic year – the first time in 24 years that the university has not implemented a tuition increase.
